Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the terms and supplies its results. York County Criminal History does not keep a local log of the names or locations entered in those boxes.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary server records can collect technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics services combine those measurements. Visitors may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a requested search to the provider selected by the visitor
- Maintaining site operation, speed, and security
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Supporting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
York County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official custodians such as York County courts, local police, Central Processing, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Megan's Law Public Website. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search tools. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information submitted to them. This policy does not control those companies, so their terms should be reviewed before a query is sent.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to York County offices, Pennsylvania agencies, courts, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their collection is governed by their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be disclosed only to the following kinds of recipients:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners receiving a visitor's chosen query
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet system can guarantee absolute security, so a breach-free result cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information known to have been supplied by a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law governs access to records held by public agencies, while 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91 governs criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, requests about data retained by this site can include:
- Correcting inaccurate personal information
- Obtaining a copy of retained personal information
- Objecting to certain forms of processing
- Requesting deletion where the law allows it
